Example One: How clinical nurses disseminated to internal audiences knowledge obtained through the organization's nursing research. Dissemination of information is an important process for FF Thompson Hospital. Using nursing research to investigate the benefits of Ultrasound Guided Peripheral Intravenous Access (USGPIV), Megan Didas, BSN, Emergency Department RN, developed an educational program to share this knowledge with nursing throughout the hospital. Megan is completing her nursing Masters degree through St. John Fischer College, and used evidence-based research to disseminate the use of UGPIV within other hospital organizations and provide training opportunities to the clinical nurses within FF Thompson Hospital. Megan's IRB-approved presentation was showcased to the Chief of Emergency Medicine, Vijay Bansal, MD and Chief Nursing Officer, Hazel Robertshaw, PhD, RN, CENP, to use her program to educate the nurses at FF Thompson Hospital about the process of USGPIV. This program was made available on the hospital intranet for viewing by the nursing staff (Exhibit. NK2.1).

After watching the available video which was embedded into the Power Point presentation Megan created, a post test was completed to show understanding of the USGPIV process and how to incorporate it into daily nursing practice. Of the 49 nurses that completed the on-line education module, 22 worked in the Emergency Department (Exhibit.KN2.2).

Following the online portion of education, there was a hands on practice, allowing the nursing staff to return demonstrate the use of the USGPIV. During the hands-on session, Megan Didas provided a question and answer session and made herself available to provide support with the role out of the UGPIV in the Emergency Department.

Megan Didas, BSN RN, in her nursing research study through St. John Fischer College (SJFC), conducted a study regarding Ultrasound Guided Peripheral Intravenous Access (USGPIV) in FF Thompson Hospital in first quarter 2014. Upon completion of her study, Megan gathered data around her research, and disseminated and defended her findings to the nursing faculty at SJFC on April 23rd, 2014 (Exhibit NK2.3).
