For an acute care organization with or without ambulatory/outpatient services, six nurse-sensitive clinical indicators are required. The required indicators for both include falls with injury, hospital-acquired pressure ulcers stages 2 and above, CLABSI, and CAUTIs The remaining two nurse-sensitive clinical indicators must be selected from the list in Table 5.
F.F.Thompson Hospital reports nurse-sensitive clinical indicators through the National Data Nursing Quality Intelligence (NDNQI) reports. Due to the size of FF Thompson Hospital, only four units are represented through NDNQI. With only four units, Thompson has to have 3/4 units exceed the benchmark, which requires a 75% out performance rate instead of the Magnet requirement of 51%. The initial chart shows the overall performance of the units, and the units that are highlighted in green show they have outperformed the mean for at least five out of eight quarters of data. Those units highlighted in red show they have four or less quarters of data that have outperformed the mean. The unit data below is grouped by clinical indicators.
